Tracking the status of a task

Tracking the status of a task

In Breadstack Delivery, a "task" is a delivery job. If your store's ecommerce platform is integrated with Breadstack Delivery, new tasks will appear whenever payment is processed for an order. Alternatively, you can create tasks manually in Breadstack Delivery.

Once a task has been created, you can track its status in real time.

In this article, you'll learn about:

Task status definitions

Each task will move through the following statuses.

Unassigned

This task does not yet have a driver assigned for pickup and/or dropoff. Assign one manually, or turn on task auto-assignment.

Pickup

The driver assigned to this task is heading to the dispatch hub to pick up the package. When they receive it, if you want your driver to confirm pickup by using the CanFleet Driver App such as to scan the barcode on the receipt or take a photo then you need to click onto the toggle Include Pickup Task
When finished, they'll be prompted to hit Confirm on the app, which will change the task's status to Dropoff

Dropoff

The driver is heading to the delivery destination with the scanned package, guided by their programmed route in the CanFleet Driver App.

Note that to begin a dropoff task, a driver must hold the Hold to Start button on the app. This does two things:
  • It blocks the driver from switching to other tasks until this dropoff is complete;
  • It triggers a text message to the customer, notifying them that their order is on the way and providing an ETA.
As the driver nears the dropoff address, the customer will receive a second automatic notification confirming that the driver is close.
After reaching the destination, if the driver is required by the dispatcher on the system to accomplish tasks (take picture/ take customer's signature) then they must use the app to record a signature (unless the customer requested contactless delivery) and take a photo, then press Task Complete in the app.

Completed

This task requires no further action. The package was dropped of at its destination, the signature was logged (if required), and a photo was taken for confirmation.

Returned

The package was returned to the pickup hub. There could be a variety of reasons for this - for example, the recipient was not home to provide a signature.

No direct actions are possible with Returned tasks. If you'd like to arrange a new delivery attempt, you'll need to create a new task manually.

Where to track tasks

Breadstack Delivery offers two ways to view tasks: the Live Tracking map and the Task List.

Live Tracking (map)
Shows new and ongoing tasks

The Live Tracking map lets you view new and ongoing tasks by pickup or dropoff location. Pull out the Task List panel to view all the tasks from the map in list form.

Assigned tasks are ranked in the order they are being handled by your drivers, while Unassigned tasks are ranked by priority.

Task List
Shows new, ongoing, and completed tasks

For a bird's-eye view of all tasks, past and present, use the Task List module. You can toggle between Ongoing or Completed tasks, search for them by name, or filter them by status or assigned driver.
